Ryan O’Grady

Ag. Chief Executive Officer

For twenty years, Ryan has worked as a senior executive and international adviser across various sectors in East Africa, Central America, and North America. Experienced in engaging the interconnected sectors of government, corporate, financial services, non-governmental organizations, and academia, Ryan has been privileged to serve clients across a broad spectrum of backgrounds with a focus on capital raising, partnership development, strategic modernization and optimization of resources, and the development of strong international linkages. This experience enables him to bring a deeper understanding of the ongoing needs of Kush Bank and its clients.

Focusing on the development of the East African financial corridor, Ryan spent the majority of the last ten-years building linkages and strategic approaches to strong relationships between East African financial institutions and their global peers, increasing financial inclusion, women’s economic empowerment, and large-scale partnership development, including related to infrastructure, trade and economic growth targets.

Previously, Ryan served as International Investment Adviser to Kush Bank, before assuming the role of Head of Business, then Deputy CEO, and now Ag. Chief Executive Officer. Leading the Executive team of Kush Bank, Ryan is focused on ensuring a stable and innovative approach to banking services, partnership development and value addition over a variety of strategic sectors across South Sudan. In conjunction with a focus on sustainable relationships with international partners and investors, the bank will contribute to the growth of the national economy through an active and engaged financial services framework that enables access to financial services, supports innovative entrepreneurship, creates a robust digital platform for service delivery, and embraces opportunities to develop value chains that enhance the competitive landscape for the nation.

A Canadian by birth, Ryan studied Public Administration and Policy Management at Carleton University before working for the Government of Canada. When not engaged in South Sudan, Ryan is an avid (but terrible) golfer, NBA fan (Go Raptors), and active traveler, using his time away to explore Africa with his partner, Virginia, the region that he calls home.

Mohamud Nur

Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Head of Finance

As one of the longest-serving management team members in the bank and with over 8 years of experience in financial management, Mohamud is a vastly experienced and keen-to-detail Finance professional with skill in navigating through challenges enthusiastically.

At Kush Bank, he plays a significant role in cross-functional team management and oversight and keeps the board of directors updated with information related to the bank’s performance. With his financial management expertise, Mohamud is also responsible for ensuring the bank’s health by reviewing and analyzing management reports and financial statements and collaborating extensively with auditors to enhance compliance and policy adherence.

Mohamud holds a Bachelor of Business Studies degree from Islamic University (Uganda), specializing in Accounting.

Christopher Kimanzi

Acting Head of Banking Operations

Over the last 15 years, Christopher has gathered a wealth of experience in banking and Finance. Having started as a graduate trainee in Barclays Bank of Kenya back in 2007, he rose in ranks and served in various capacities ranging from bank custodian, capacity building officer, branch operations manager, and branch manager in Barclays and Kush Bank.

He is currently the acting Head of Operations at Kush Bank PLC, ensuring client services and institutional operations are delivered efficiently and effectively and comply with Kush Bank’s operational policies and international standards.

Christopher holds a Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours) degree from Egerton University, Kenya, and is an ACCPA, Certified Compliance Professional.

Davies Muriuki

Head of Innovation & ICT

Davies has over 14 years of ICT experience in the banking sector, having worked in Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, South Sudan, and Kenya. In addition, he has strong project management skills and is an accredited project management practitioner.

Applying his extensive experience regionally, Davies is leading a transformative time at Kush Bank in the adoption of digital platforms to better address the needs of clients and community alike. In addition to a focus on ensuring the operational and security integrity of the banks electronic systems, he works closely to align and develop appropropriate products focused on digital channels.

Davies has a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications and Information Technology from Kenyatta University (Kenya) and a Master’s degree in Management Information Systems from the UNICAF University of Zambia. His other accredited certifications include ITIL, MCSE, Cyber Security, Data Centre, and an IMIS diploma in Computer Science (UK).

Rose Amata Indayi

Head of Sales & Marketing

Rose has over 11 years of experience in marketing and business development within East Africa and leads the Sales Marketing unit of Kush Bank PLC. In her role at the bank, she oversees the development and successful implementation of the bank’s marketing and sales strategies. Previously, Rose worked with several leading 5-star hotels in the hospitality industry in Kenya, Rwanda, and South Sudan.

Rose holds a Second Class (Upper Division) Bachelor of Arts degree in Hospitality Management (Marketing Option) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology, Nairobi, Kenya.

Gabriel Mwangi Nyamu

Deputy Head of Operations (Branch Management)

Gabriel is a seasoned banker with over 13 years of experience in Kenya’s retail, mortgage, and commercial banking. He joined Housing Finance in 2009 as a management trainee, steadily growing to the relationship manager level. Between 2016 and 2019, Gabriel served as branch manager at Equatorial Commercial Bank (now Spire Bank) in Kenya. Before joining Kush Bank PLC, he was the Finance and Operations Manager at Crophealth Technologies Limited - Kenya.

He takes the lead in branch establishment and supports existing branches and operations while ensuring that each unit runs profitability efficiently and effectively. He also ensures that operational risks are mitigated and managed optimally.

Gabriel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Administration from St. Paul’s University, Kenya, where he graduated with the highest distinction of First-Class Honors.

Elizabeth Wangari

Executive Support Officer

Elizabeth is a professional business strategy, administration, and support manager. Over the past 17 years, she has worked with leading multinational brands in Kenya’s vehicle industry as a Sales & Administration Manager, among other roles. Through this, Elizabeth has a rich background in business growth and turn-around, business strategy development, implementation and review, sales administration, and Small & Medium Enterprise assessments and valuation. More recently, she has ventured into serving her local community in an advisory capacity for a primary school seeking to grow and make a difference in the lives of children.

Elizabeth supports the executive office in matters administration, review of proposal/business concepts documentation and presentations. She also helps the management team optimize business processes by taking on non-core yet time-consuming tasks. This leaves the other team members to focus on their key deliverables.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree (Second Upper-Class Honors) in Sociology and Philosophy from the University of Nairobi.

Adut Alaak Garang

Corporate Secretary and Head of Administrative Services

Adut brings youth, vitality, and professionalism to the corporate administration function at Kush Bank. As a graduate of the University of Leicester and with over a decade of experience, she collaborates with the Senior Management Team to ensure the bank’s compliance with country regulations and governance within the various departments.

She also has the responsibility for a variety of administrative functions, including working with our Board of Directors, managing the legal affairs of the bank, collaborating with the human resources team for labour relations and staff welfare, tax compliance, and coordinating the administrative elements of operations at the head office in Juba.
